Boost your Photography Business
Photography business marketing, YouTube is one of the major media we can use for free. Not just that we also can earn a decent amount of money through YouTube. I already discussed how you can develop a photography business with no money in my last blog. Today I will be discussing the importance of YouTube marketing in the photography business and also provide some important strategy to build your photography career with YouTube.
First, let’s talk about the importance of YouTube marketing. Every day billions of viewer use YouTube for their entertainment, learning new things etc. YouTube can be a great marketing asset for your photography business and also for your career. You can show your skills and teach some of them through your YouTube channel which will help you to find a client and also you can earn money with those videos.
Without doubt, video marketing is one of the biggest reasons I was able to build an online company with multiple six figures.– Katie Freiling
You can share your experience in photography with the viewers which will also attract your clients. But on YouTube, your video has to rank top to get noticed by viewers and your clients. With my research, I found a few SEO strategies which can help your photography video to rank top on YouTube.
Everyone knows you should use the target keyword in your video title. What you might not know is that YouTube puts more way on words that appear at the beginning of your title. For example, let’s say you want to write your video for photo editing.
Most people would use a title like this. Now that title is in horrible or anything but you can easily make that title even more SEO friendly by front-loading your keyword. A title with a front lucky word to looks something like this. So put your video title with front-loading your keyword for your imagery business.
Last year I conducted the largest YouTube rank factor study ever. Specifically, we analyzed 1.3 million search results for YouTube to find out what ranks some videos above others.
So what we find? We’ve found that videos with lots of engagement signals outrank videos that didn’t get a lot. So what are engagement signals? Engagement signals are things like shares, likes, comments and subscribe.
Basically, whenever people engage with your video, it tells YouTube people are loving this video. Our data found that comments correlated with rankings more than any another engagement signal.
The question is how you can get more people to comment on your videos. From testing, I found that putting a hyper-specific call to action (CTA) at many of your video work best. You see most YouTube search use a generic call to action like leave a common or let me know what you think but I found that hyper-specific called to actions work much better. So instead of a generic leave, a comment gives you a view or something specific to comment on.
Try giving something that will help your viewer only then they will comment, share and like your videos. For example, make them do some photography experiment or give them some free photo editing filters for Photoshop. Make Photography live session or crash course video on photo editing software and photography equipment’s on YouTube.
Here’s the deal with video tags on YouTube, according to our ranking factor study tags are as important as they used to be. That said tag still, make a difference. So it’s worthwhile to spend some time in them. Unfortunately, most people on YouTube used tags completely wrong. Remember your video tags are designed to help you to understand the content of your video. Which means you don’t need a lot of tags to get the job done. In fact, if you use a lot of tags you’re just going to confuse YouTube, Google and they have no idea what your video is actually about. If YouTube doesn’t understand what your video is about they’re not going to rank it for anything.
That’s why I recommend using a small number of highly specific tags. I called my approach the “Tab Formula”. The “Tab” stands for
“Target, Alternative, and Broad”.
Here’s exactly how it works, first make sure that your first tag is your “Target Keyword”. Just like with your title YouTube puts more way on tags that appear early on. Especially your first tag.
So if your keyboard is “Green Smoothie Recipes”,
You make your first tag “Green Smoothie Recipes” simple.
Next to create to the three tags that are “Alternative Keywords (2-3)” of your main keyword.
For example, you do a variation for “Green Smoothie Recipes” like
You can easily find this variation by popping a target keyword into the YouTube search bar.
These suggestions make perfect of your alternative versions of your main keyword to you use as tags. You can target image requirements for Amazon tag for your photography video where you talked about Amazon.
Finally, one or two “Broad Keywords” into your last set of tags.
These keywords should describe your videos overall topic or industry.
Broad keywords for “Green Smoothie Recipes” would be like
Always put broad keywords which are related to your video. If you made a video about photography equipment you can’t put keywords related to another genre. You can use best photo editing software for a broad keyword because image editing software is related to photography.
You’re probably aware that “Click To Rate” is an important ranking factor in YouTube. Another word if your videos get the above amount of clicks in the search result YouTube going to give you a ranking spot.
Question is, how can you get more clicks? Use “CTR Magnet Thumbnails”. So what are “CTR Magnet Thumbnails?” Your thumbnails that are specifically designed to get more clicks from YouTube.
Here’s a step by step process, step 1
What do I mean by non-YouTube colours? Well the main colours on the YouTube website are
“White, Red and Black”. So if you use the same colour in your thumbnails you are going to blend in with YouTube. Instead, I recommend you colour that contrasts with YouTube colour like these
Next, step 2
With my experience, I noticed that thumbnails with text get more clicks than thumbnails without text. That said your thumbnails are pretty small and you don’t have a lot of space to work with. That’s why I recommend you to use 30 characters of text max. For example, a number one video on e-commerce SEO in YouTube has 23 characters.
When anyone starts a YouTube channel for the first time they put ZERO thought on video descriptions. But that’s totally wrong and
Because longer descriptions help YouTube to understand what your video is all about.
That’s why I recommend you guys to use valuable short description into your videos, but do not reveal all the context of your video in the description just put what your video is all about. Try to make a description between 100 to 200 words.
What works better, “Long Videos or Short Videos,” when it comes to video SEO? Well, we found when we analyzed
In fact, our data show that the average video on the first page of YouTube is 14:50 long.
What’s going on here? Well, a few years ago YouTube said,
Another word YouTube loves videos that keep people watching for long periods of time. Make your videos
In my experience, that’s a sweet spot for ranking your videos on top.
Like I mentioned earlier, YouTube uses CTR for ranking so your thumbnail is a big part of the equation. But don’t forget about your title, it’s huge. In fact, YouTube state that
One of the easiest ways to increase your click-through rate is by using brackets and parenthesis to your video title. In fact, a study by “Hubspot” discover that simply adding brackets and parenthesis to your title boost your CTR by up to 30%.
Let say you just published a video on “12 Best Photography Marketing Tips” and your original title looks like this
Well according to Hubspot research by changing your title to this
You can increase your CTR by more than one third. Here are some examples that you can use in your video title. If you are making a video on how to do photography in low light just put that year in the bracket.
The deal is YouTube SEO is not just a search results ranking. In fact, by getting your video to appear as a suggested video, you can get as many views if not more. The recommended video is when your video appears in a sidebar next to another video. So if you can get your video to show up next to a really popular video you will steal some of their views. The best way to show up as a suggestion video use the same tags that video uses. When YouTube sees that some of your tags match the tags of a popular video
They understand that your video is about the same topic. Which means likely to rank your video as a suggested video.
Let’s say you wanted to rank as a suggested video next to this video.
First, check out the tags that video uses. To see the used tags you need to look at the source code of the page. To do that with google chrome just right click and click on the “View page source”.
Then see the keyword section of the page
You can also use some Keyword research tools like “TubeBuddy”, “VidIQ” which will show you video tags without needing to look through the source code.
Next, use a few of the tags that video uses to your video.
Make sure to copy the tags word for word. If your video is high quality and closer related to the popular video, YouTube will start to rank your video as a suggested video.
The fact is, whether you are a small channel or you have a million subscribers we all have videos that do better than others. With my research, I found that
We talked about watch time a little bit before its total amount of time that people spend watching your videos. I recently a great way to increase the watch time which is “Turning Donkeys into Unicorns”. Here’s how it works.
Go to your
• YouTube Analytics Audience Retention.
This report shows you how much people watch your videos and where they tent to drop off.
Then search a video on your YouTube channel that done really well.
Then keep an eye on audience retention peeks.
Peeks are sections of your videos that have above average on its retention. Then just see that section of your video to figure out what kept people watching that part.
Did you put a graphic on screen, say something funny take note all of them. Implement all of them from your new videos. Thus you can make the donkeys into unicorns.
With these strategies, you can rank up your photography videos on YouTube.
Videos may attract another audience, which could not take time to read an article or a white paper.– Brick Marketing
Which will lead your photography business to the top day by day? Before making any video research the market of the audience and also photography trends at that moment. Make videos relevant to the trend. From my experience, I feel informative video like “Things you should do while photography”, “How things you can change to make your photography more efficient” etc. attract viewers a lot. You can share your photography knowledge with others in your video to get more views.
Photo editing is one of the major parts of the photography business. You can make videos on best image editing tools in Photoshop, How to remove unwanted background from photos or how to blur the image background without DSLR.
